The other day on the radio I heard Katy Perry's newest single 'Thinking of You' and I couldn't believe my ears! I was certain I was listening to Alanis Morissette! I fell in love with her after hearing her bi-curious anthem last year & danced around the house singing 'I Kissed a Girl' for weeks! But I am so excited and furthermore impressed with this ballad that seems to debut a fairly different sound for her, yet... amazingly familiar to another lovely lady! She has the same whispery and even nasal, rocker sound as Alanis. Her songs are also reminiscent of the nerve Alanis struck with women everywhere with her blunt and often brash lyrics (See: 'You Oughta Know') My mother always said, "Imitation is the best form of flattery." I just hope that for every pop bop jam she turns out she has at least two ballads like this one. SO great!!!
